Questions

Your questions, answered.

Straight answers to the questions we hear most from clubs, schools and coaches planning a team tour.

01

Planning your tour

Who do you work with?

Grassroots clubs, schools and PE departments, colleges and academies, and girls’ and women’s teams from across the UK. We work through your club or school organiser from first enquiry to the trip home, so there’s one clear line of communication.

What kind of tours do you run?

UK pro club weekenders, La Liga academy experiences in Spain, international youth tournaments and school sports tours. Every tour is tailored to your group, so if you have something different in mind, ask us.

How many players do we need?

Some professional academy sessions have a minimum group size, often around 16 players. FA rules keep players within their age bracket, so we won’t mix age groups to make the numbers. Smaller squads can team up with another club in the same age group. Tell us your numbers and we’ll check what works.

Can we choose our own dates?

Yes. Our featured tours run in set windows, but every tour can be built around your dates. Professional clubs don’t host groups over the summer break, so pro-club experiences run during the football season.

What if our dates fall in term time?

Some tours fall outside school holidays. Families will need to request leave from their school, and approval is at the headteacher’s discretion. We can provide a supporting letter explaining the tour.

How do we get started?

Send us an enquiry with your group, age group and preferred dates, or email info@onthewingtravel.co.uk. We reply within two working days, have a short call to understand your group, then send your tailored tour options and price.

Costs & payments

How much does a tour cost?

It depends on the destination, dates, length of stay and group size. We quote a clear price per player with everything included listed, so there are no surprises later.

How do payments work?

You secure your places with a deposit, then pay the balance in staged instalments before you travel. The deposit and payment dates depend on the tour and are set out clearly in your quote and booking confirmation. The earlier you book, the more instalments the cost can be spread across.

Is our money protected?

Yes. On The Wing is a member of Protected Trust Services (PTS Member No. 6324). Your payments are held in an independent trust account and only released to pay for the parts of your tour, such as accommodation, coaching sessions and travel. Flight-inclusive tours are ATOL protected through our ATOL-licensed partner.

What’s included?

Everything included is listed on your quote and booking confirmation. Anything not listed there is not included. Travel insurance is not included and must be arranged separately.

03

On tour

Who looks after the group on tour?

Your club or school stays responsible for supervising its players, in line with its own safeguarding policy and staffing ratios. We handle the travel, venues and timings. On our Spain tours, a host from our ground team supports the group, with 24/7 support while you’re away.

Do we need travel insurance?

Yes. Travel insurance is required for every traveller. We don’t accept liability for losses that would have been covered by a suitable policy.

What documents do we need to travel abroad?

Every traveller needs a valid passport. Under-18s need parental or guardian consent to travel. Check the latest entry requirements for your destination on GOV.UK foreign travel advice before you go.

Can you cater for medical, dietary or accessibility needs?

Yes, as long as we know early. Tell us about any medical, dietary or accessibility requirements when you enquire, so we can plan accommodation, meals and transport around them.
